The ARBC Weekday Preschool Director Search Team is pleased to announce the conclusion of the search for a new director to lead the ARBC weekday preschool ministry. After a long and thorough search process, the team is pleased to announce that Mandy Anderson has been hired to serve as the next Preschool Director. Currently serving as an 8th grade social studies teacher at Fisher Middle School, her tenure will begin in June of this year.
A ten year veteran of the Greenville County School District, Anderson is a graduate of Presbyterian College, with additional teaching certification from Converse College. During the 2013-2014 school year she was honored as the teacher of the year for Beck Academy. She comes to her new position with excellent credentials in education, particularly a clear understanding of the process of analyzing and developing curriculum to meet current and emerging needs of students of all ages. She has a track record of clearly and effectively communicating with the families of the students she serves, and she has crucial experience in leading and developing new teachers through student teacher mentoring.
As a parent of two young children, Anderson understands the unique challenges facing young families today. She is passionate about ensuring teachers and parents are appropriately resourced to offer the greatest care and love that leads their children toward optimal development personally, spiritually, socially, and academically in a safe, secure, loving, and innovative environment. As a veteran teacher, she understands the challenges of the classroom and has a heart for coaching teachers to fulfill their potential in living out their calling. As a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church, she understands the important connection between the congregation and the preschool, and how the preschool plays a unique role in the ongoing vision for its future ministries. In addition to all of this, she brings a clear vision and important strategic thinking skills that will ensure the ARBC weekday preschool ministry thrives as it serves the needs of children and families now and in the future.
One search team member stated, “Mandy has a heart for children and is a team builder. She will strengthen relationships with staff, parents and the church congregation, and we are excited for her to lead this important ministry of ARBC.”
Another said, “Mandy brings a unique perspective as a teacher, mom, and church member. Her warm personality and natural coaching abilities are evident and will serve the children, parents and current teachers of ARBC effectively and with a personal touch.”
Asked why she is excited about the opportunity to lead the ARBC weekday preschool ministry, Anderson said, “I am excited for the opportunity to lead our teachers to further develop the learning and curriculum of our preschool to ensure our children are best prepared for the future. I look forward to working collaboratively with everyone involved in bringing unity and growth as we continue to build this ministry together.”
Anderson is married to Mike, who serves as a teacher and head coach of the Greenville High School varsity basketball team. They have two children, Porter, who is enrolled in the ARBC preschool 3-year class, and Palmer, who was born on December 31. They live in Mauldin.
Phyllis Duchinski, who announced her retirement after almost thirty years of service to the preschool ministry, five as director, will continue to serve in her position until Anderson begins her work in June. During this time Duchinski will oversee a seamless transition process, including the preschool’s regular licensing inspection. She will serve an important role in preparing all children, families, and teachers for the next chapter of the preschool ministry.
A special thanks must be given to everyone involved in this search process, including those parents and teachers who offered crucial feedback on the current state of the preschool ministry. Every effort will be made to ensure that all families and staff are informed as Anderson comes into her new role officially. Your continued prayers are truly appreciated. It is a blessing for the ARBC preschool ministry to serve you and your family, and we look forward to a bright future together.
