Matt began his ministry as Senior Pastor of Augusta Road Baptist Church on January 6, 2014. He is originally from Columbia, SC and spent his early years in Aiken, SC. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from the University of Georgia , and a Master of Divinity degree and Doctor of Ministry degree the James and Carolyn McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University. Before coming to Augusta Road Baptist Church, Matt served with Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC, and Parkway Baptist Church in Duluth, GA. Matt met his wife, Lelia, while attending the University of Georgia. They have a beautiful daughter named Hattie and a son named William. Matt and Lelia live in the Augusta Road community.
